This Friday (Jan 21st) Mr L.A. Wilkinson, 87 year old grandson of W.A. Wilkinson, the founder of the Lemonade Factory will visit the site of the disaster, accompanied by his son, Terry and by members of the 173 team.
Mr Wilkinson will also visit North Shields Central Library to explore the library’s holdings on the factory and the air raid disaster.
Mr Wilkinson was 17 at the time of the bombing and was based at the company’s Gateshead offices. He made occasional trips to the factory on King Street. We’re hoping that L.A. can share his memories of the factory and it’s workers, the aftermath of the disaster and the story of Wilkinson’s thereafter.
As they say…Watch This Space!
What a fantastic site that is. Thank you
