Up at Preston Cemetery a month or so ago and I noticed sadly that there has been a marked deterioration in the condition of several of the grave headstones.
Perhaps as a result of our recent hard winters, the stones are certainly increasingly illegible. Shame.
Does anyone (Council, War Graves) have responsibility for their maintenance?
Superb site. My mam was in a house (87 West Percy Street) on that night. They took a direct hit. She remembers that Maberts (Paper shop) and a butchers where hit too. She remembers that there was a news paper photo of that hit, I don\’t suppose you have that 🙂 I have tried the library but nothing.
